One of my two favorite models.........

I have been out shooting all weekend, but it's pretty slow, nothing special, however this is worth sharing, one of the two best models a Grandpa Jimmy (that's what she calls me!) could ever have. I need to post one of my other granddaughter soon. These two are soooo easy to get great photos because they are so cute.

This is Gator Country

Found this critter in my garage one day, he just didn't want to leave but got a good close up of him.

It's a slow day, but I'm 30,000 feet above ground

Nothing spectacular, but this is a picture from a few days ago, I like the yellow Tivoli lighting, the dark tree, the green leaves and then the great blue early night sky. The really cool part about this is that I am online and it's free on Delta, Sunday afternoon, about 30,000 feet in the air somewhere over Georgia, heading to Atlanta, then Virginia Beach.

Fairies Dancing in the Dark

This past weekend they had the lighting of the Christmas Tree in West Palm, although a little early in the season for me, it was good for a few shots. The tree it self was pathetic and not worth even a digital image of it, but the dancing fairy was kind of cool.

Historic Church in Palm Beach, Bethesda by the Sea

This is an interesting shot of an exterior passageway in a very historic church in Palm Beach. Tonight was a long walk through Palm Beach with only a 50mm lens and went through the Episcopal Bethesda Church by the Sea. The most recent famous wedding there that I can recall is "The Donald" got married there ( I was not on the invited list unfortunately, but watched helicopters ferry guests in and out from the private airport to The Breakers all day) and I am sure many historical weddings and funerals have taken place at the remarkable old world church. What makes this photo work is the soft light pouring in from the windows to the left and the passage way with the incandescent lighting the arches all the way to the brilliant sunshine and green lawn. I love taking these types of photos. Click on the image to enlarge.

AIR SHOW IN STUART, FL SUNDAY 11/15/09

The sky was crystal blue for an air show in Stuart on Sunday, I was only there for an hour so I am sure I missed some other pretty cool stuff. The sun was starting to get low, so the angles of the light were difficult as we were moving around trying to get the best view without actually paying to go in. Forty bucks for the last hour wasn't worth it, so we stayed on the road down the highway from the air field. Next year I am going early and getting a better vantage point, it was fun. Love the WW II fighter plane, very cool. Click and enlarge the photos for better detail.

Colorful Fish from the depths of Palm Beach, FL

Notice how different the colors can be depending on the lighting conditions and the angle of the critter. Very colorful though, this was on another reef in Palm Beach, FL, although we depart from Singer Island on The Narcosis, a great dive boat that is usually the one I am on. The top photo has particularly incredible green eyes that sparkled from the flash. Feed the moving fish in the left corner by clicking your mouse, not sure why I put that on my blog, but it adds some color and fun. You can enlarge any photo by clicking on to get full size resolution photo.

Hot Shiny Cars

Just for Fun;
The pic of the day was taken two nights ago, it has an interesting toy like quality and the cars are so shiny and gleaming with light that they seem like little matchbox toys. The fun part of taking this photo was that I was on the 12th floor of a high rise and a block and half away in distance from these cars in a showroom and it was obviously taken at night evidenced by the good lighting quality.

My Sister, Karen........

Not long ago, we had a little family fun in Houston, home of my brother Mike and his lovely wife Carol, but this is my sister Karen, and I just love this photo just like I love my sister, she's actually my older sister and she looks absolutely fabulous today as she always has. I guess it's a good thing she got all the hair in the family for those that know me personally you know that I am follically challenged.

She's in Florida now visiting her daughter and were going to have dinner or something on Friday, hurray!!!

Her husband Artie, "THE ONE MAN PARTY" is always a hoot and fun to be around. Pay particular attention to the beads around Artie's neck, it was color coordinated with his shirt.

Lobster vs. Eel, vs. Man.

The cool thing in this picture taken while diving "The Breakers Reef" near Palm Beach, is that the lobster, wasn't sure if he was going to be eaten by the Green Moray Eel, or me. I won.

Had a great lobster dinner on this day.

BAD BIKER CHICK WITH HER DUDE

So I am chasing this couple down the road with my camera hanging out the window, they loved the fact that someone was taking a photo of them, at the stop light I asked them to get in the left lane so I could get a better shot, didn't have the right lens on and the sun was in the wrong place, but I got this one, and at the next stop light he asked me if I wanted to join them at the VFW Hall for a beer, I didn't go, but it was nice of them to ask. He's a Vietnam Veteran and a real nice guy.

VETERANS DAY PARADE....

Went out today without any clue of what was out there, actually I was looking for food, but took my camera as usual and on Clematis Street was a parade for Veteran's Day, which actually is not until Wednesday, but glad I stumbled on it, there were many great photo opportunity's. The first is a female drill Major with her crew behind her, she was great, I moved within 2 feet of her to take this photo so that that the others were slightly out of focus, she was what I wanted but to show with her crew in the background, she did not blink, not one time.

Second was the drum corp, would love to try this again with all the sticks flying as I was walking in step with them. I love drum corp and that beat of the drums being a drummer from the 60's in a rock and roll band, I am sure some of you won't believe that, but I have photos to prove it.

The third photo was I think was a general look a like kind of scenario, the dude had this total sincere look like he was planning the next big invasion of Albania, is that still a country?, I am not sure anymore. But a great photo op none the less. We expect our commanders to have an attitude and mission, he had one, but it was more like where is this ending and where's the bar.

THE HOOD...ON A SUNNY SATURDAY

Recently took a stroll around the hood with camera strapped to my shoulder, always looking around for some interesting shots. Anyone from West Palm that loves ice cream knows the colorful Sloan's, it's a great colorful place that is an icon here, it's even more fun inside, maybe I will take some photos of that someday, the other shot is the fountain, where kids come and sit with their parents and have pizza and ice cream and play in the fountain on hot southern Florida's days and nights too.

Florida has the most incredible bird watching anywhere in the world, most of the time I don't know exactly what I am shooting, but when I can get a close up of a bird or any critter, I am sure trying to nail it. I probably should look this goon up and tell you who he is, but too busy today, maybe with tomorrow's shot of the day.

I love taking night time photos, this was in pitch dark, from a roof of the sky line of part of West Palm Beach, maybe not the biggest city for lights, but this 30 second exposure from a tripod was interesting to take.

FROGS WERE THERE TOO!

During the wedding, Nicole was given this frog thing, not sure why, or what the story is behind it, but it made for an interesting picture with the colorful flowers, candles, the evening blue sky behind the windows, and the bride slightly out of focus created what I thought was an interesting image. I am going to have to find out the story behind the frogs.

Mia

This is my niece Melissa's daughter Mia who is always very shy around me but watches me from the corner of her eye, and then I get one picture of her, show her what it looks like in the camera and she immediately becomes a little poser and actually follows me around. She is one of many adorable kids there for the weekend wedding.

Some more photos of so many adorable little kids at the wedding and all had fun in The Great Smoky Mountains, the middle picture is actually at the wedding and I would have loved to known what he was saying, like "hey, when's this thing over"? Actually is was the shortest, sweetest and simply elegant wedding ever. About 15 minutes and the party started.

Monday, November 2, 2009

This past week the entire family was in the Great Smokey Mountains for the wedding of my niece Nicole and new husband Joe. We had a great time, this is just one of over a thousand photos taken this weekend, the fall colors were just spectacular with photos taken of all the cute kids running around, wild bears and some wild party people celebrating the wedding. I have a gazzillion photos to go through and will publish a few more......What a nice time.
