This is the main power transmission lines coming from the Hoover Dam and sending power to a quite a bit of the Western States

Colorado River just after sunrise today.

Did my normal can't sleep so I drive great distances just to get a photo.  This is at the Hoover Dam looking up the Colorado River, the sun and clouds were perfect.

Memorial Day 2015

Just driving around the city this weekend I came across a magnificent cemetery that was extremely well decorated  for the ones that served our country

My granddaughter Camryn competed in her first really big competition in Chicago against some 4,000 girls from across the US and she did amazing, she is only 8 and shows great promise, what a fun weekend with family in Chicago.

A 4 Story Parking Garage with a very cool mural in Old Downtown Las Vegas

Death Valley and Ghost Mining Towns of Nevada and California

I got up around 3am and started driving, not a clue where I wanted to go, but had my cameras with me and ended up in Death Valley and some old towns, it was a great drive, lasted about 7 hours in the car but came upon some magnificent mountains and deserts.

Hi Roller in Vegas. Click on it to enlarge.

This is the Hi Roller in Vegas, sitting at 520 feet in the air, it's taller than a lot of the hotels in the area, and takes about 1/2 hour for one revolution.  Pretty Cool.

Grand Canyon

I took a trip around the entire Grand Canyon, both the North and South points and got this shot off at sunrise on the South Point.

This is a large piece of artwork on a 2 story building in the old part of Las Vegas, the art was interesting enough, but the Palm Tree added a little interest to it.

Click on this photo for full view

This was shot at 5:00 am, off the 10th floor of a large mixed use project I am building in Summerlin, a community about 8 miles from the Vegas Strip.

The Grandsons are in town for Easter……

Da Hood in Vegas

This is the part of Las Vegas you never see unless you live here.  The cool part is that it's on the same street that I have a place, but only about 7 miles away, just off the strip.  The Pawn Stars pawn shop and Rick's Restoration, two shows I like to watch are in the same neighborhood.  It's kind of an Arts District.

Abandoned Mining Site, Somewhere in Nevada along a long empty road.

On one of my drives around the Nevada countryside, I came across this amazing rusting out tractor that had some original paint and this patina kind of finish so I went on to this property to take a photo and ran into the this guy that was working on the property and he got permission from the woman, who is the heir to the property.   There was so many cool things around the property, however the tractor was maybe the best.  There was actually a pile of over 100 bikes all in a pile.  I love to just drive the country roads, always something interesting.

Carson, getting run over by speeding Corvette

No one loves cars and trucks more than Carson, in this photo it appears he is going to get run over by some speeding little cars, very funny little boy.

Christian, another little one in the family

I had taken quite a few photos of Christian at about a week old, and when I sent them to my niece, I failed to notice this one, I actually like it more than any of the others that I took.  It's Dena's third little boy, she is one very busy little Momma.

Navy Pier, Chicago

This is shot from Navy Pier in Chicago, looking North.  I was there for Chicago's  fantastic Winter Wonderland Festival with my daughters and grandkids, but this is my favorite shot of the day, love the sky, the boat, for me this just works for me.

Recent Shots of our Grandchildren.

I have some shots of our amazing Grandkids recently.  I was just looking at them and decided to share.    Kinsley always smiles, Elle was really not on the phone, but maybe listening to something, Camy just lost her first tooth, so that was fun, and Carson is explaining something to Mommy.

Blue Angel's Home Base

I have been working in Pensacola, FL, home of the Navy Blue Angels.  They have scheduled practice sessions where you are right on the edge of the airfield, and it's free.  I went there this morning to check it out, and being this close is really cool.  I have seen them in Chicago a number of times but this was kind of special being that close.  Really impressive, at one point they came from behind were we were watching and it about knocked me over.   I have a cousin, Jay Varner, whose son was the team leader, but I never was able to see him fly.  I really like the photos from today though, clear skys and a beautiful day in Pensacola.

Mario Andretti School

Driving around south Atlanta, I came across the Atlanta Motor Speedway, there were no major races, but this place is amazing in size.  It's bigger than any NFL stadium, maybe seats a lot more too.  But I could hear cars running and found a way to drive under the track on to the infield where there was a Mario Andretti Driving Experience School going on.  How cool, plop down a wad of cash and you can drive a NASCAR for a total of 3 laps.  It was some great opportunity for some high speed action shots and panning the cars as they were whizzing by.
